Sector Event - Print and Packaging Lunch, May 2017
Arrowpoint Advisory and our friends at CIL and Eversheds Sutherland were delighted to host our annual Print and Packaging sector lunch in Birmingham, on 12th May 2017.
Acclaimed financial writer and comedian, Dominic Frisby, the author of successful books on economics and finance shared his views on a range of topics affecting the sector and the economy as a whole, including the strength of the pound, the potential impact of the coming election, the national debt and the future tax environment.
The print and packaging sectors have seen meaningful input inflation in the last 12 months as the pound has declined against the euro and the dollar. The sector has also benefited in the last decade from skilled and semi-skilled EU workers coming to the UK both directly and indirectly through the supply chain. Many UK packaging companies have also established manufacturing in other EU territories. In addition, as sectors that invest regularly in both capital equipment and new product development, the corporate tax environment and tax incentives for investment are clearly very important.
With a room full of select guests from across the print, packaging and aligned sectors, conversation over lunch was vibrant and we are hopeful that among the business owners, investors and corporate directors in the room, new and potentially valuable relationships were born, as has been the trend at this lunch in the past.
Arrowpoint Advisory arranges a number of events across our core sectors every year and feedback from the attendees is very positive. If you are interested in attending a future event please let us know and we can inform you when we will be hosting a relevant lunch. All comments from guests are subject to the Chatham House rule.
